The first cell divides into two, the two into four, and so on. Each of these new cells divides again and again as they travel toward the womb in search of a protected place to grow.

Heart begins to beat, with the baby’s own blood. A baby has eyes, ears, and even a tongue! Muscles are developing along the future spine. Arms and legs are budding.Child has grown 10,000 times to 6-7mm long. Brain has human proportions. Blood flows in veins.

The fetus will grow considerably during the third month and begin to resemble a real baby with facial features, arms, legs, fingers, and toes. Fingernails, toenails, and ears are becoming more pronounced as well. The fetus can even move its limbs now, though it will still be a while before you can feel your baby kick.

The baby’s head is much bigger than the rest of its body, the majority of its anatomical features including newly formed eyelids, brows, and lashes, are there already, and your baby may even begin sucking its thumb. The baby can now swallow, yawn, and make a variety of different facial expressions.

Baby is becoming sensitive to light and can tell whether you’re in a well-lit or dark environment. The baby may even move his hand to cover his eyes when exposed to bright light. Your baby has gained the ability to hear sounds of your voice and your heartbeat.

Your baby will be very active this month—so active that you may be able to see as well as feel his kicks and flips. As you rapidly gain weight, your baby will follow suit, and could gain up to a whole pound this month. By the end of this month, your baby could weigh up to two full pounds and stretch an entire foot in length.

Your little one can hear as well now as ever, and although many sounds are muffled by the barriers of your womb, the baby will react to voices and music with kicking and even moving back and forth to a beat. At the end of the 7th month, your baby could weigh anywhere between 2-4 pounds and measure up to 14 inches in length.

By the end of the eighth month, all of your baby’s organs, except for the lungs, will be almost completely developed. Toward the end of this month, you may start to notice that the baby is not moving as much as usual because of running out of room to do so.

The baby is almost fully grown now, more fat cells are beginning to form under the skin to keep baby warm and give a head start on life outside the womb. By the end of this month, most babies weigh around 7-8 pounds and are approximately 18-20 inches in length, though this average is slightly lower for girls.
